I'm a mother and former English teacher. I'm in my mid-30's, have four young children, and am sooo excited because my oldest just learned to read! But now the question begins: what's she going to be able to read in a couple of years?
A lot of middle-grade kids' books aren't what I want my kids reading, meaning that they have boy-girl stuff, or bad language, or gratuitous violence, or disturbing themes, or a nihilistic worldview. For years, I've been keeping a list of the good, clean books I discover. Now I want to share them with you, and add to the list.
My rule: books that appear on this blog contain no more than three short "problem" areas (of 2-3 sentences, max) that you might want to cross out.
